Meet Heidi

Registered Social Worker & Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Heidi Nichilo, a Registered Social Worker with over 18 years of experience in mental health. My journey has taken me through community agencies, hospitals, private practice, and nonprofit leadership—each experience shaping my deep commitment to supporting both clients and fellow professionals.

Early in my career, I realized that mental health work isn’t just about supporting clients—it’s also about taking care of the professionals doing this emotionally demanding work. Since 2013, I’ve provided clinical supervision to Registered Social Workers and Psychotherapists, helping them navigate the challenges of trauma, burnout, and professional growth. My approach blends developmental and reflective practice models with a focus on:

✨ Trauma & Vicarious Trauma
✨ Anxiety, OCD & Phobias
✨ Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse & Parental Alienation
✨ Suicide Postvention Support for Clinicians

In recent years, I’ve stepped into academia, joining CityU Canada’s Master of Counselling Psychology program as an Associate Faculty member. Teaching and mentoring the next generation of mental health professionals has only deepened my passion for this work.

I believe in fostering resilience, self-reflection, and sustainability in the mental health field. Whether you're a clinician seeking guidance or an organization looking for postvention support, I’m here to help. Let’s navigate this journey together.

That’s why I created the Reflective Practice Supervision Group, a small, closed group where mental health professionals can explore their challenges in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. â€‹â€‹

If you’ve ever left a session wondering if you did enough, struggled with self-doubt, or wished you had a space to process tough cases—this group is for you.

If you’re looking for a collaborative, growth-focused space to deepen your clinical practice while also prioritizing your own well-being, you’ll feel right at home here.

Because this is a closed group, spaces are intentionally capped at 8 participants to ensure a meaningful experience for everyone.

If this sounds like the kind of support you need, I’d love for you to join us. Reach out to secure your spot or ask any questions. I’m happy to chat!

Reflective Practice Supervision Group

Early in my career, I often found myself second-guessing my decisions. I’d leave sessions wondering, Did I handle that right? Did I miss something important? At times, I felt stuck, circling the same case over and over in my mind, unsure of the next step. And then, of course, there was the imposter syndrome whispering, What if I’m not good enough?

Over the years, I learned that these struggles aren’t just common—they’re part of being a thoughtful, ethical, and reflective clinician. But I also learned something else: having a space to process, reflect, and connect with peers makes all the difference.
