Meet Heidi Nichilo
Registered Social Worker & Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Dr. Heidi Nichilo. I’m a Registered Social Worker with over 18 years of experience in mental health, working across community agencies, hospitals, nonprofit leadership, and private practice.
My work now focuses on supporting clinicians, leaders, and organizations through training, consultation, and clinical supervision, particularly in postvention, professional resilience, and organizational readiness following client suicide. Drawing on clinical experience, research, and systems-based thinking, I help organizations strengthen their capacity to support staff, respond thoughtfully to loss, and build cultures where difficult professional experiences can be addressed openly rather than carried in isolation. Through workshops, Communities of Practice, supervision, and speaking engagements, I work with teams to translate complex clinical realities into practical frameworks that support both clinician well-being and organizational responsibility.
If you are a clinician seeking reflective supervision, or an organization interested in strengthening postvention readiness and professional support structures, I welcome the opportunity to connect.

Postvention Expertise & Training
A key focus of my work is suicide postvention, organized responses following a suicide designed to support those impacted and reduce the risk of further harm. In clinical and community mental health settings, it addresses the professional, emotional, ethical, and organizational impacts of a client suicide.
I provide training and supervision using models like the Three Phase Framework for Postvention Clinical Supervision and Building Postvention Readiness. These programs help reduce burnout, secondary trauma, and professional self-doubt, ensuring ethical, coordinated, and sustainable responses.
I also serve as Associate Faculty at CityU Canada, mentoring future mental health professionals.
